Welcome!

Welcome to the next Session in your Child Development course! In this Session, you’re going to learn all about care routines, and how these can be used to support development.

Assessment

In your Assessment at the end of this Unit, you will be asked to:

  • Describe everyday activities which promote independence
  • Explain how daily routines and activities can meet care needs and support the wellbeing of children.

This will help you to satisfy assessment criteria 4.1 and 4.2 for this Unit. You’ll find lots of information over the following pages to help you complete this part of your Assessment.

As you have already learnt in this Unit, different children may have different care needs. This can be due to their age, developmental level, or the preferences of their parents. A really useful way of meeting these needs is through daily care routines. This is the pattern and timing of care activities, such as bath time, meal times and playtime, every day.

Now let’s move on to learn more about care routines.
